Dr. Chelsea Laden
Dr. Chelsea Laden was born and raised in a large active family in Lakeville, Minnesota. Eventually, her desire to pursue a degree in healthcare and her dedication to the sport of hockey led her to Hamden, Connecticut where she attended Quinnipiac University as a starting Division 1 goaltender on the women’s ice hockey team. In addition to helping lead the Bobcats to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, Chelsea was honored with several prestigious awards, including the Sarah Devens and Mandi Schwartz Student Athlete of the Year Awards. She graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Health and Science Studies and minoring in Biomedical Sciences.
Following her undergraduate career, Chelsea was drafted into the NWHL, where she was honored to play professional women’s ice hockey for two of the four inaugural NWHL teams: The Connecticut Whale and The New York Riveters. In her free time, Chelsea coached a local girls’ ice hockey team, and continued to prepare for her graduate studies. She became especially interested in optometry after participating in a sports vison therapy program as part of her goalie training.
Chelsea went on to earn her doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO), where she gained an extensive knowledge of ocular disease, binocular vison and contact lenses. She completed all of her clinical rotations in well established, diverse high-traffic offices, and was honored to receive the Southwest Contact Lens Scholarship Award. After graduating from ICO in 2021, Dr. Laden was thrilled to find herself back in her home state of Minnesota, where she practices comprehensive optometry at Pearle Vision in Red Wing. She enjoys performing optometric care for patients of all ages, and is dedicated to providing the best quality of care and service to her patients. She is passionate about the health and wellbeing of those she serves.
In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys fishing and staying physically fit. She is part of an annual charity for the Twin Cities’ homeless, and is a cast member on Travel Channel’s show, Destination Fear, with her brother and two best friends.
Dr. Laden is thankful to be working and living in the beautiful city of Red Wing, doing what she loves most.
